Genny Gordy - PresidentThe gallery here at Gordy Fine Art & Framing was a dream that Brian and I finally realized in 2003. The Monthly exhibits here entice and educate the community, promote the vast array of area artists and neatly display many of the framing options here at GFAFC. I have always had an interest in public education and arts advocacy, so for the past twenty years I have served on many boards and committees to promote the arts and artists of east central Indiana. When not working in the gallery or on publicity for the organization, I am maintaining the accounting for our wonderful family-owned business, as well as remaining active in community arts organizations and downtown Muncie revitalization efforts. Genny Gordy received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Ball State University in art education and has taught art in both public and private sectors since 1976. |

Brian Gordy - Director of Framing & RestorationPicture framing, to me, has always been a kind of relationship between art, architecture, and design. I came to the picture framing business after careers in interior design, teaching art in the public schools, and being a long-time watercolor artist. This creative background gave me a depth of understanding about what a frame means to both the support and preservation of its contents and the important role it plays in the overall decor of the space it occupies. I frame like I paint – carefully, with no more, and no less than is necessary for the best final result. Here at GFAFC we all have the skills necessary for maintaining both private and corporate collections, artfully integrating everything from the finest works of art, to prints and posters. Brian Gordy holds a degree in art education from Ball State University and is an award-winning watercolorist. He has won regional and national awards for both his nature and abstract series. His works may be found in over 48 private and corporate collections. Brian has also been trained as a skilled craftsman, and a gilder by some of the finest artisans in the world. |

Ben Gordy - General ManagerI have grown up around art my entire life. I think this is why I am so comfortable with it. I understand what is necessary to both create, care for, and property display a beautiful piece of art. I believe that I can look at a piece for what it is compositionally, and make the right decision about how it should be presented. Important things like color, texture, composition, time period, and medium (just to name a few) all come in to play when selecting the right treatment for your art. The intermingling of the art, and its surroundings should be a seamless, and effortless transition, full of striking and obvious references to one another. Its also important to realize that there is seldom only one right decision. This is all what makes this process so enjoyable for me… the possibilities are endless. Ben Gordy studied psychology and art history at Ball State University until 2002. He then moved to Minneapolis, MN to begin work at a picture framing company and art gallery serving the greater twin cities area. Upon returning to Indiana, he took on an apprenticeship with his father, Brian Gordy to learn frame restoration and gilding. |

Martha Gilliom - FramerMy first introduction to Brian and Genny was as a watercolor student in one of Brian's classes. When I wanted my own work framed, I became a customer of the shop. I learned quickly how good framing can support and enhance a piece. Now as a framer I enjoy participating in that process. It’s exciting for me to use the techniques that I’ve learned in my years as a painter in the designing of framing treatments people’s artwork. |

Braydee Euliss - FramerAs an art student at Ball State University, I was excited to take advantage of the opportunity to learn from and work along side the Gordys. Although I have previous framing experience, the atmosphere here has allowed me to really build my knowledge base and be more confident with my ability to please the customer. I look forward to being a complimentary addition to an already outstanding group of artists. |
