His artworks reveal a connection to that place... to its extreme physiographic features... and to the contradiction it presents in a State known more for an agrarian culture and horizontal central plain than the dramatic geologic oddities, dense forests, limestone escarpments, and French/German traditions that characterized his youth. This connection has been further evolved through the profession he elected to embrace during the last three decades. Land architecture is quite simply, the science and art of maintaining order and elegance on the land and all that resides on it. Eric is a registered land architect and founding partner of Rundell Ernstberger Associates, the region’s largest and most respected urban design and land architectural firm with offices in Muncie, IN, Indianapolis, IN, and Louisville, KY. He has been design principal for this time... creating many award winning built works throughout the Midwest. He is also passionate about the written word... translating life experiences and observations to short story fiction, essay, and poetry. His vivid paintings in acrylic, on paper and canvas, are spontaneous extensions of this passion that result in expressionistic abstraction....... ultimately attempting to convey a story, expose contradiction, or capture drama inherent in ordinary subjects. Eric’s works are held in a number of private and corporate collections in Indiana and Ohio. His most recent exhibition was held in August of 2009 at Gordy Fine Art & Framing Company.” |
