September 2021 – Forgetting the Ox:  Drawings by Jeff Brackett

Gordy will open a sale of ink drawings by Jeff Brackett, Associate Professor of Religious Studies at Ball State.  Brackett’s mostly abstract images are made of lines that are balanced between being purposefully composed and meandering adventurously.  Drawings range is sizes from 8”x 8” to 60” x 40”.  The show’s title is Forgetting the Ox.  Brackett compares his process to the Buddhist metaphor of Ox-herding where he works toward eliminating the distinction between himself and the art he makes.  The show will open at a reception on Thursday September 2 from 5 – 8 pm.  Refreshments will be served, and the artist will be on hand to engage with visitors at the 6:15 artist talk. The show will remain on view until Saturday October 2.

Business hours: Monday through Friday, 9 am – 5:30 pm, Saturday, 10 am – 3 pm. Gordy Fine Art and Framing Company is located at 224 East Main Street, next door to Muncie Civic Theatre. For more information, visit or call 765-284-8422.

April & May 2021 – Jim Faulkner

Jim Faulkner’s dedication, sensitivity, and skill as a painter for more than 50 years made him one of the most revered artists in our region and state. On January 29, 2021 Jim passed away at 86. Gordy Fine Art and Framing is proud to offer the remainder of his paintings in its gallery and on its online store located on its website.

Throughout his career he searched for the essence of what he believed and felt to be true.

I am very taken by the constant change taking place in everything.  The new that decays, becoming the old. In the natural world, both new and old seem to hold my interest. I paint the meadows, woods, homesteads, towns, and people of the mid-west, trying to find meaning in the stillness of an abandoned farm, or the quiet of a snow-covered wood, or even the aging of the human face. If I find that meaning and quality, the painting is worthwhile to me and I hope, to the viewers of my work.
