Gordy offers original frames using profiles designed by us, inspired by historical American and European profiles, and produced at local mills using locally sourced lumber. These frames are an elegant option for clients who appreciate the delicacy of a hand-crafted surface and “closed corners” where the corner appears to be one continuous piece of wood.
Gordy originals are built by hand in our shop from raw wood. We build up closed corner surfaces free of visible miter joints and other imperfections such as wood grain and mill marks.

If the right frame is not available in our premade samples, we can design and build to the client’s specifications. Our clients often come to us with ideas and photographs knowing that we will apply a refined sensitivity to the work being framed. Our conversations always cover recommendations concerning appropriate style, time-period, color, and level of distress. This attention to detail will make the frame appear original to the work of art.

Premade Samples
Clients can select from a range of premade samples that include oiled hardwoods, gilded metal leaf that mimics gold and silver, and genuine gold leaf that can be water gilded and burnished to a mirror finish. Additional decorations are also available using hand-carving, sgraffito, granito, and the application of compo ornaments.
