Packing and shipping recommendations usually fall into four categories
1) Small to mid-sized sturdy object going to a domestic destination. We fabricate a durable-walled cardboard box with the object being first wrapped in plastic sheeting and layers of bubble wrap or other packing product that provides a cushion of air. In this scenario we use commercial delivery services like Fed Ex. Depending on the object’s value we might recommend overnight service.
2) Large sturdy object going to a domestic location. We fabricate a medium-duty wooden box with the object being first wrapped in plastic sheeting and layers of bubble wrap or other packing product that provides a cushion of air. In this scenario we use a commercial delivery service like Fed Ex or freight service if the box exceeds the recommended size. Depending on the object’s value we might recommend overnight service.
3) Fragile object going one-way to a domestic location. We fabricate a medium-duty wooden case. We also fabricate an inner box with built-in custom padded supports that provide a rigid and dust-free environment for the object as it travels. A custom foam structure is built to support the inner box inside the outer box. Depending on how fragile the object is, we either use a commercial freight service or a service specializing in fragile and valuable objects.
4) Fragile and highly valuable object going to more than one location either domestic or international. We fabricate a heavy-duty traveling case that can be reused and can protect against outside shifts in temperature and humidity. If the case is traveling internationally, we build it to the specifications of customs and border control. We also fabricate an inner box with built-in padded supports that provide a rigid and dust free environment for the object as it travels. A foam structure is built to support the inner box inside the outer box. Depending on how fragile and valuable the object is, we either use a commercial freight service or a service specializing in fragile and valuable objects.
